An Opportunity to Help Future Patients Diagnosed
with Colon Cancer
Survey of Patients with Colon Cancer

Research To Practice, a medical and patient education group that has been producing cancer programs for oncology professionals for over 20 years, has implemented a new initiative to broaden the scope of its prior work documenting the perspectives and information needs of people struggling with cancer.

This project follows the success of past initiatives during which new information and data about patient perspectives were presented to the oncology community at major medical meetings. The knowledge gained during these previous endeavors provided the foundation for the development of an educational program for patients considering, receiving or recovering from adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer.

Objectives of the study
1. Document the perspectives of patients with Stage II and III colon cancer as they make their treatment decisions and/or throughout their experience with and recovery from adjuvant chemotherapy.
2. Publicize these perspectives to oncology professionals and the cancer community as a whole.
3. Assess patients’ opinions about segments of a prototype multimedia educational program.
What participants will be asked to do
Complete an initial online or hard copy survey to document their perspectives, which should take about an hour to complete
Complete three follow-up surveys to be taken about three months apart, each with a duration of approximately one hour. Please note that the follow-up surveys may not be applicable for all participants
For participants who have access to the Internet: As part of the initial or follow-up survey, complete a one-hour evaluation of segments from a prototype video, audio and print education program, which should take about an hour to complete
